These coasts are situated on the Ionic side of Sicily, facing the Straits of Messina, and are among the most beautiful of the island, full of caves, cliffs, bays and gulfs. But Taormina is also culture:it was a flourishing greek city, and it was enriched in the time of monuments, the most famous of which is the Greek-Roman Theatre, place of shows and performances during the summer

Another unique and fascinating natural scenery, which in 2010 won the European award for European Destination of Excellence (EDEN), are the Alcantara Gorges.The gorges are up to 50 meters high, and they are a canyon originated from ancient lava flows that crossed the icy waters of the river Alcantara. Just 45' from Catania, there is the Neapolis Archaeological Park, which is home to most of the classical greek and roman monuments of Syracuse, it is an open-air museum. For the amount and relevance of its monuments, Siracusa is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in Sicily and among the largest in the Mediterranean and that is why UNESCO has declared it a World Heritage Site. Inside the Park, you can admire the Greek Theatre, built in the 5th century BC, used to represent the great tragedies and comedies. Even today, in the spring-summer period, the Greek Tragedies are brought on stage at the same Theater, reviving the glories of the past
